Poor Management and mis-use of resourses
Nice entry into Federal Service
Great place to work. Very good organization. Focus on service and service to employees as far as opportunities.
THIS AGENCY NEED TO HIRE MORE PEOPLE FROM COLLEGE AND IMMIGRANTS WHO BECAMW US CITIZENS
NONE
It is a great company to work for. There is a lot of growth opportunity.
Be yourself, you have to like to work with different kinds of people and community in general.
it is my honest opinion, nothing really too bad just some days can suck
it takes time so don't be expecting SSA to get back at you ASAP...it may take around a year when budgets are made finally
This is how i see it, however i have only been working for a short time.
none
There is currently no advancement opportunities in ODAR the GS-9 level available for people at or below my current position.
I took early retirement in and am now interested in working for a different agency. I gave SSA this rating because of different management. One great manager and one very poor who obviously got his position to to his connections, another district manager who was an alcoholic.
If you are working in a district office,be prepared to have a very busy job. Never "caught up", if you are a "clean desk at the end of the day" person, this is probably not the job for you. However if you love helping people and are compassionate, then you will love specializing in disability claims.
They keep hiring but not much advancement for the employees that they have already.
Make sure it is what you want to do. Takes long for advancement into higher positions.
Strong leadership! The agency is well organized with little confusion. The working environment is as relaxed as possible considering it's a social service agency. The pay is comparable and the work stable. And, the possibilities to advance are plentiful. Great place to work.
Bring a strong work ethic!!!
Customer Service and Employees Service Relationships
Be ready to work harder with less manpower, and requires patience and excellent people skills
I am working in a position where I do not truly work for Social Security
Because without them they could not serve people like me, and you with there best skills in helping one another.
My 13 years of experience at the Office of Disability Adjudication Review (Region 9) was in a very dysfunctional office with a history of very very poor management since massive structural reorganization was implemented quite a few years ago. However, the agency has been excellent in its adaptation to using electronic information.
Keep focused on your work and remember that you are meeting a dire and urgent need of the American people.
Social Security Administration is a good company to work for, very dedicated to their employees as well as clients.
Great employer but we are currently understaffed and thus we have a larger than normal work load.
You better be able to wear many hats and can work under a lot of pressure
SSA has not done much in way of working with employees and they tend to hold their employees back due to favoritism. Overall, they just need better managers in order to make everything run more smoothly.
FCIP where they would be an intern first and get a taste for it
BECAUSE ITS A CAREER JOB, AND I WOULD GIVE THIS AGENCY ALL THE KUDOS THAT IT DESERVES!
GO FOR IT, MY LIFE HAVE NOT BEEN THE SAME SINCE I ACCEPTED THE POSITION, ITS QUITE AN EXPERIENCE AND BLESSING ALL WRAPPED INTO ONE!
Manager doesn't consider the stress level of employees when reviewing workloads. Employees are given more work than they can handle. Your knowledge and skill level does not matter when management considers you for a promotion.
Do not take a position as a service representative or a tele-service operator, because these are high pressure jobs with low pay.
