Like the other branches of the military, the job is not stable and you are transferred according to the needs of the service. It can be especially tough for families.
It's good and so it's good and it's a good time so it's good
have a good time and enjoy your life while working here
The Coast Guard is the smallest of the military branches. It is therefore limiting in oppertunities it offers yet at the same time provies stability and longevity
DUE TO CULTURAL COONSIDERATIONS INHERANT TO THE SERVICE
This is what that proven to me as i been actively serving in it.
Travel, college money, great people, and your serving your country. Its a great career or a good stepping stone to get your life headed in the right direction.
I the Coast Guard is a great place for a young person to start as it gives its junior person a lot of leadership and responsibillity opportunities.
Throughout the four years i have currently served I have experienced the following. Majority of my supervisors have been helpful and knowledgeable that have given me the opportunity to develop good working skills. Enivironment is stressfull with being away from home and having to adjust to different units but their is many program that aid to help with the enironment we work in. The pay will provide a comfortable life style, you wont be rich but you definitely be taken care of. Stability is good currently, as long as a member is abiding the rules and regulations as a military memeber you will always have a job. Advancement is highly encouraged in the U.S. Coast Guard, I have seen a highly motivated Coastie move up three pay grades in four years!
If you like to travel, you are into search and rescue, and would not mind doing drug counter ops I highly recomend researching the Coast Guard. Especially if you are young and you dont have a clue what you want to do...the Coast Guard has a wide range of different jobs that you can look at before you even choose what kind of job you want to do. Also before signing up I highly recommend scoring as high as you can on the ASVAB, it will open more doors, and really look at the different jobs (rates) the Coast Guard has to offer, because if you can get guaranteed A School after Basic Training, you will be beter off!
The Coast Guard does not offer to much stability when it comes to families.
Excellent government job.
Have a passion for the service
It is a good organization to work for!
None.
I decided on the best rating I could give.
You should apply.
My friend ended up painting a boat for 8 months! He did go to Costa Rica though.
I spent 22 years in the Coast Guard. No other service has such a diverse mssion as the Coast Guard. On the enlisted side of the service, I was involved in Law Enforcement, Aids to Naviagtion, Search and Rescue, Drug Enforcement and Immagrations. I advanced through testing and placement evaulations. You have to not only show you can do the job, but test your abilities on paper. Time in service and pay grade is used to ensure you ahve the best possible person advancing to the next level. Education opportunities are the same as any other military service with current eductional bills. Salaries are possbility the least of the factors that I give hign marks for, I believe that all branches should and could do not for the personnel.
The military services, regardless of the branch requires a commentment to join their branch of the service. Make sure that you are turly intersested and can invest the time for the service. Obilgation to the service all at time feel like you have sold yourself into a position where you feel you have not voice. Be ready for ant thing.
I would be interested in this employer.
I worked as a JROTC officer in a high school setting, often working in conjunction with the Coast Guard base on Miami Beach. I thoroughly enjoyed the program I was in and would have continued into the service if other factors had not played in. I think the Coast Guard in general has an interesting mission and plays a very important role as both military support in home defense and law enforcement. In Miami, this is especially rockstar-ish for the drug enforcement.
This is one of the best services to get yourself into. I was lucky enough to experience the program in high school but in general this is not available. Get yourself in touch with a really good recruiter and do well on your exams.
