About Me:
At my house, I'm Wife and "Momcat."I also to be Stepmom, but they grew up and left the nest. Hubby and I have five cats. I'm from Ohio, but move to West Virginia for love when he wanted to return to the mountains. My husband is a stroke survivor of 12 years now, and he's the chief cook & bottle washer. For the first seven years we were married, I didn't know the man could cook. Once he had to stop working, he started cooking. I discovered that 1) he can cook, 2) he likes to cook, and 3) he's good at it! We want to go to Australia for a visit with some online friends. I graduated from college in 1990 at 35. Since then, as "Grace Monet," I've written two published books: "Mama's In Heaven -- But You Can Manage," and "Teen Grief's Delayed Reactions." Happy titles, eh? My biggest ambition is to have a public speaking business where I talk to my target audience (young adults, teens, parents, college students) and sell my books and related stuff online. I'm about $10,000 away. The first qualification is already met: I'm a born ham. lol So you see, I'm looking for a good-paying job to pay for all this stuff! The main message of my books is: Teens grieve differently and much later than adults. Grief isn't only about death, but other emotional losses, too. Because teens are different in that way, they can seem to be unfeeling, uncaring and insensitive to the grieving adults around them. It also leads adults to assume that "kids bounce back." Yes, they do seem to bounce back immediately, but in 10-15-20 years, the emotional turmoil starts to bother them, and they're forced to deal with it. It's a physical thing - the shock and emotions get stored, and cannot be released until some time after the teen becomes an adult. Before that, all those life changes take priority. No one thinks about such things until it happens to them, so no one really knows how to deal cope. I found out about this topic because of what happened to my family.

I recently saw a position named "Incoming Correspondence Clerk" that I now can't find. Does anyone know the code number for that? It looks like something I could do without having to start using shorthand after so long. :)

Batten down the economic hatches, half speed ahead! Folks, the downturn can only last so long. I remember the recession of the 70s. Grocery prices went up every week, and they were still using stickers on all the cans!

"We have nothing to fear but fear itself." Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was correct, because the basis of economics is the analysis and measurement of people's reactions to different events. The reaction is reflected in how they spend money. The fluctuation of the stock market shows how much those reactions change. Having a reasonable perspective on the current situation helps.

History shows that the U.S. economy cannot repeat "The Great Depression" because various controls were put in place in the 30s to prevent it. Harry S. Truman often said, "Read your history." We can be frustrated, angry and dismayed, but we are not defeated!
