New Defense Personnel System
Posted about 1 year ago DoD is moving to an entirely new NSPS personnel system. Many defense employees seem to be upset about it, what do you think? |

Posted 2 months ago Yes it does, but it is a severly confussing system when dealing with appraisals and ratings. If you're gonna be a bear....be a grizzly...

Posted 2 months ago Yes, the GS system is going away and the NSPS "Y" system is taking over. If you're gonna be a bear....be a grizzly...

Posted 2 months ago I'm a new NSPS employee so I can't compare it to the old system. I'm not sure how my evaluation will work because I haven't had one yet, however so far I have no complaints about the job or how I have been treated. I'm not upset ab out the system, just a little confused. ScoobyDoo is right about the confusion. The concept of merit-based pay is a good one but I'm concerned about the implementation. It remains to be seen if it will be consistent and fair. it seems to me that a lot of people are being asked to "reinvent the wheel" with this appraisal and ratings system. For example, there are probably hundreds of people in NSPS doing the same job I do, but I have no way to compare my job description and expectations with theirs. It would be nice to be able to make comparisons! I've been working in NSPS for three months but I don't have my rating system in place yet. I just keep putting one foot in front of the other and continue to move forward but I'm really in the dark (even after attending a class on the new system). Thankfully, I already knew how to do my job so that isn't an issue. My supervisor is active duty military and doesn't seem to have much interest in NSPS ratings.

Posted 2 months ago I know that changing from GS to NSPS should have been more thought out, more time given to learning about the system and how to write for it. It was rather dumperd in our lap with training from someone who didn't understand it themselves. If you're gonna be a bear....be a grizzly...
