Posted about 1 year ago Ok a little general, but it's a good way to break the ice. I grew up in Las Vegas, but I was born in Beaver County, Pa, just north of Pittsburgh. Where does everyone else hail from? |

| Posted about 1 year ago I was born in Los Angeles and spent 4 years of my life there. After that, we moved to a small city 20 minutes from downtown Los Angeles and have been living there for 15 years. I moved away to college recently and I spent one year living in Davis, CA, but then moved to an apartment in Sacramento for my second year, which is where I currently live. I love California =) |

As an immigrant for 20 years I can see your point, but also I must say that perseverance and love to the country that is giving you the opportunity to demonstrate your inteligence and education will be a great reward at the end. There is a lot of education right now in most corporations in regards to Diversity. Also great opportunities for people like you, be patient and take your chance as soon as you see one. I did. Good luck. |

| Posted 12 months ago Where did I grow up? Well I was born and raised in Panama, Illinois which is a dot on a state road map but a town I still call home. My father was in the Navy, my mother a truck driver so I was left in the care of my paternal grandmother who had already raised my fathers 16 siblings! Large family doesnt even touch it! All of my fathers brothers were living in the same town after they proudly served in the military and his sisters pursued careers as domestic engineers. We were the typical American dream realized. My great grandparents immigrated to America in 1917 from Italy and settled in Southern Illinois to raise their family on a dairy farm. We were raised to be proud to be American and no matter what we done in life, be proud of it and give it 100 percent! Today my life has become so fast paced living in Houston, Texas and raising my own family so periodically I return home to Illinois to slow down and breathe. To me there is nothing like pulling into my hometown and stopping by the local tavern for a beer with old friends that somehow have managed to never change. I wonder at times if my hometown is the only place in America untouched by technology, society's new rules, and all that the modern age has to offer. My hometown of Panama is still the same today as it was yesterday and will be tomorrow. It makes me proud to say I am an American! |
