Compensation Loss

Posted about 1 year ago I know it's been what's considered a long time since I survived that six month coma that didn't hit me on active duty. It just struck because of out dated dilantin provided by the VA. That's a prescription I ended up with after that three month coma I went through while a Marine. Sure back then I was young enough to stick with it and was allowed to stay on active duty. My mind even said I could still drink beer. It didn't matter if I had a seizure after a five mile jog. At least back then I was treated more like a normal guy, not disabled. I bet it was even easier to recover physically. It's a good think my wife and I live on the edge of town where we can still have horses and stock. That responsability with the chores has helped me get5 back in line with realaty. New Years Eve I could hit the VFW and party. Some thing I hadn't done in years. Now I ought to get back to work. US baby boomers don't retire early. I just need to find out if any income from a job hurts the compensation allready recieved. I just can't remember exactly how it hit me when I was rated 25% disabled to get that dilantin prescription. It would really help me to get some more income via some part time job. I'm not all that ignorant about computers because before that biker had shot me with his Colt 45 Army pistol the DAV had got me into vocational recovery. I'd studied computer science at UNM a bit I'd evn got a C++ compiler to do some home work on my old pc running Windows 3.1 and DOS. I'd hoped that language would get me a better part time job than in-town delivery trucking. After I got shot I could even get a CDL liscense and haule fuel while driving for Groendyke Tanker company. I only hoped that if I ever had a seizure I wouldn't crash into some over pass. THe explosion might kill others too. Does any one know if a job with some income will take off from the VA compensation? |

| Posted about 1 year ago The VA will only cut your compensation in the event you are in the Reserve/Guard and that is on ratio, about dollar for every 2 you earn. Also, if you havea 100% rating, or P&T, then there are stipulations about working. Otherwise, you can get any job you like that pays any amount withoug effecting your VA compensation. Are you sure you are rated at 25%? The VA only rates in increments of 10, so check your rating. Good luck with your venture. |
