NO, they pay someone else. Is there interest from anyone out there on how to protect your family and your income should a serious accident, sickness or illness occur? I want to provide workshops to help educate others on how their benefits work, but more importantly, how they don't work. I'd like to know if there's any interest?

I'd be interested for sure. Benefits are one of the best parts about working for the government!

Sure, everyone feels a huge plus for working for the gov't are the benefits. What happens if you leave gov't service before you're vested? What happens if you have a serious accident, injury or illness and you're unable to work? Would you be able to pay your normal living expenses? How about food? And on top of everything, there'd be the addtional out-of-pocket medical expenses. Employers give us give us benefits but in most cases, the overall majority do not understand how their benefits work, but more importantly how they do not work. I enjoy doing forum or workshop type of events and more imporantly enjoy showing people how to be more proactive about taking action to protect thier future. I personally feel this is an area where I'd love to see more young people take a stronger interest.
