We ALL have work to do. Question is whether you like being abused or intimidated at work? It's your right under labor laws to get a lunch break to do with as you see fit. Don't you have a lunch room? Can you eat outside? I'm sure there are options, and if your boss is forcing you to work during lunch you should file a grievance.

Personally, I NEVER eat at my desk. Just like the bed is only for sleep and sex, the desk is only for work

I can't help but eat at my desk, though, because sometimes you need an afternoon pick me up treat!

I hate the smokers, though, who sit next to me cause they smelllllll

It's good to multi-task, but that doesn't include your juggling your sandwich and some files. I hate it! Meanwhile your boss gets to eat her lunch in private behind close doors you are exposed to more work to do in a cube. I feel that there should be more respect whether your in a cube or in an office.

Here's a question: does the Hatch act apply to lunch breaks? Is it your right to work on political stuff at lunch if you choose to during your time?

One of the things I'm not looking forward to in my job quest is being FORCED to take lunch.  Right now I work through lunch, and I get paid for 8 hours of work working from 9-5pm, rather than 9-6pm or 8-5pm or any of that nonsense.  Though I do look forward to a more rewarding job, i don't look forward to spending an extra 30 minutes to an hour of unpaid time there when I could be at home sleeping, doing stuff with friends, etc.

You've really hit the nail on the head, right there.  In addition to being forced to take a lunch, there are a lot of other arbitrary restrictions in some government jobs which don't actually increase the amount of work a given department accomplishes - but definitely stress out workers.  For example, it can be difficult to work late one night, or work weekends, and use the extra hours as a justification for talking a half-day.  A few benefits of some civilian jobs.  I almost wish, in more positions, it were possible to have an "on call" status, where you were accountable to report to work in case of emergency, but allowed to leave the department or office.
